Coxing, coaching &
training at HRC
Coxing
The club is always looking for more coxes! The coxswain is the person who steers the crew and gives the instructions. It is a good way of getting some fresh air without a great deal of effort as well as making new friends! Coxing can be very rewarding - whether the crew you are a part of are elite performers or beginners at their first race! The club is happy to teach people to cox!
Please note that all coxswains are required to become accreditated via the Rowing Victoria Good Coxswain course by Wednesday 1st October 2008. The club can arrange for members to participate in this.
If you would like to have a go at coxing - or maybe get back into it, please get in touch!
Coaching
As the club expands, and the merbship becomes more active, so do the number of coaches we need! Like coxing, coaching can be very rewarding and is a good way of getting involved with the club!
Those coaching our Under 18 members and the Junior Program are required to have Working with Children Checks.
All areas of the club need coaching help from the juniors right through to the veterans, so if you'd like to have a go, please let us know?
Training
HRC currently have a number of different sqauds members could train with. There are competitive rowers looking to compete regularly throughout the racing season at the various regattas held across the state. The club also offers a range of regular social rowing times for those who know how to row. We also have a Junior Rowing Program.
Competitive members participate in these regattas from November to Easter. During the Winter months there are also opportunities to race in a (single) sculling series and a couple of winter regattas. For an HRC regatta calendar click here.
Details of the full Rowing Victoria regatta season is available at http://www.rowingvictoria.asn.au
Competitive rowing categories include Open, Masters and A to D grade competition.
If you're a member looking for a squad or training program, please get in touch.
